All of us have some time or other installed new roms on our beloved smartphones. This could result in we loosing all our data included important Text Messages. We have also switched phones and wished to get all our text messages on the new phone. So here is an app that will hlep you save your text messages and help easily move between two phones without any worry of loosing your messages.

SMS Backup and Restore is totally free app but supported by advertisments. If you don't like advertisements then you can donate to ensure the ads are removed. Best part of this tool is that your phone does not need to be rooted. The interface of this tool is very basic and needs no explaining. Below is the screen shot of the customary disclaimer when you first start the app. Click ok to proceed forward.

Once you click on ok button you will reach the main window.

As informed earlier, this is a free app support with ads which can be seen clearly in the above mentioned screenshot. The application has very easy to understand buttons and hence is not confusing. Performing backup of the messages.

When you click on backup, you get to select the backup folder. Default is the internal storage card. You can also backup messages on the external storage card. Latest version also gives you an options to backup to a custom folder. When you use the custom folder option, you can give the backup folder your own name.

For this review, I have chosen the default Internal storage card. Once you click on ok you will be presented with the below screen. Here you can name the file as per your requirment. The default naming convenction starts with SMS, year, month, date, time of backup. The storage file is saved in XML format to save space.

Other options available for you is to select all the conversations or selected conversation that you want to backup. It also allows you to backup to cloud storage like google drive or dropbox. Once you click on ok the messages will be backed up.

Restoring the messages is also really easy. All you need to do is click on the restore button and then select the location that you have saved your messages. You are automatically shown the below screen to restore the messages.

You have an option to restore all the message or from a specific time.

Once you click of Ok, app will restore the messages.

App has few settings which can be accessed by clicking on the menu button of your smart phone or the "3 Dot" menu option and selecting the preferences.

Settings are also self explanatory like choosing your backup folder, to backup settings, or scheduling backups. Most important is the security that this app provides, which is password protection. This is really helpful if you have sensitive messages to be backed up.

       

Overall the application does its job correctly and efficiently. Options like drive and dropbox saving makes things easier when swapping devices or also during the factory reset without the worry of loosing your message backup.

How to Backup and Restore Data in Xiaomi

Backup and restore data on Xiaomi is easy. You do not need to use any third-party applications, because the smartphone made by Chinese manufacturer is already equipped with a built-in feature that is ready to assist in securing your important data.

Such a feature is in the form of an application called "Backup" which is installed by default in the operating system Android Xiaomi MIUI MI3. As the name implies, the feature function can be used to secure and restore a number of important files such as photos, videos, music, applications, device settings, contacts, and so forth.

So how to use the backup and restore data? Complete follow the steps below.

Nb: although the method of backup and restore data below apply to Xiaomi MI3, but for users of devices other models eg Xiaomi Xiaomi 1S Redmi, Redmi Note, MI4 and others can also do the same thing.

How to Backup Data Xiaomi

1. First, locate and open the application called "Backup" in the Xiaomi. Or if you do not find it, could go to "Settings> Backup & reset> Local backups".

2. Press the "Back up".

3. Give checklist on the option you want to backup (System, Apps, or Accounts & Contacts). Touch / tap the arrow beside it if you want to see each item choose options.

If the option has been set, press the "Back up" to start the process.

4. If the backup process is complete, select the "Done" to finish.

5. Backup file will be saved in the folder MIUI / Backup / AllBackup / on the device memory Xiaomi. If the fear is gone, you can copy the file to the computer.

If you have an account Xiaomi, backup files can also be encrypted so that can not be opened by anyone except yourself. The trick in step number two above, simply press the logo padlock beside the Back button up. But remember this step is not necessary when it is not needed.

How to Restore Data Xiaomi

1. Make sure the file you want to restore is still stored in the folder MIUI / Backup / AllBackup /.

2. Run the application "Backup" in the Xiaomi. Or if the application is not found, you could go to "Settings> Backup & reset> Local backups".

3. Select the backup file that you want to restore.

4. Give checklist on what items you want in return. Then press the "Restore".

5. Press the "Done" if the process has been completed.

Cara Backup Data Xiaomi

1. Pertama-tama, cari dan buka aplikasi yang bernama “Backup” di perangkat Xiaomi. Atau jika anda tidak menemukannya, bisa masuk ke menu “Setting > Backup & Reset > Local backups”.
2. Tekan tombol “Back up”.
   
3. Beri ceklis pada pilihan yang ingin anda backup (System, Apps, atau Account & Contacts). Sentuh/tap tanda panah yang ada disampingnya jika ingin melihat choose item tiap pilihan yang ada.
   
   Jika pilihan telah ditetapkan, tekan tombol “Back up” untuk memulai prosesnya.
4. Jika proses backup selesai, pilih tombol “Done” untuk menuntaskannya.
   
5. File backup akan tersimpan di folder MIUI/Backup/AllBackup/ pada memori perangkat Xiaomi. Jika takut hilang, anda dapat mengcopy filenya ke komputer.

Jika anda punya Akun Xiaomi, file backup juga dapat di enkripsi agar tidak dapat dibuka oleh siapapun kecuali anda sendiri. Caranya pada langkah nomer dua diatas, cukup tekan logo gembokyang ada disamping tombol Back up. Tapi ingat langkah ini tak perlu dilakukan bila tidak terlalu dibutuhkan.

Cara Restore Data Xiaomi

1. Pastikan file yang ingin di restore masih tersimpan pada folder MIUI/Backup/AllBackup/.
2. Jalankan aplikasi “Backup” yang ada di perangkat Xiaomi. Atau jika aplikasinya tidak ditemukan, anda bisa masuk ke menu “Setting > Backup & Reset > Local backups”.
3. Pilih file backup yang ingin di restore.
   
4. Beri ceklis pada item apa saja yang ingin di kembalikan. Lalu tekan tombol “Restore”.
   
5. Tekan tombol “Done” jika prosesnya telah selesai.
   
6. Selamat data penting Xiaomi anda sudah kembali seperti sedia kala.
